    Je suis entré dans la poésie Tang presque à l'improviste, mais non par hasard, en lisant un poème de Li Bai, qui met face à face un homme et une montagne. Le poète décrit un lieu d'immobilité et de majesté devant lequel l'être humain, dans sa faiblesse et son impermanence, ne peut que s'asseoir et regarder.

    Li Bai m'apportait autre chose, à quoi je n'étais pas préparé par mon éducation et par mon langage : une plénitude, une paix intérieure. Cette paix n'était pas difficile à atteindre. Il suffisait de s'asseoir et de regarder.

    La poésie Tang est sans doute le moyen de garder ce contact avec le monde réel, elle nous invite au voyage hors de nous-mêmes, nous fait partager les règnes, les durées, les rêves.
